Trails at Wiggins Community Center
Anniston, AL
The Northeast Alabama Biking Association (NEABA) trail crew wants to expand the trails at Wiggins Community Center. The community center hosts after-school and summer biking programs that help local kids learn skills and gain confidence on a bicycle. The long-range goal is to foster grassroots growth for the City of Anniston NICA team.
This grant will fund building additional 2.5 miles of trails. The NEABA Trail Crew already completed a one mile loop that connects the community center with a nearby park. It has been very popular with the kids and the community.
NEABA is also working with the Jacksonville State University Sustainable Trail Science program which will provide insight and feedback on trail layout and design to ensure that sustainable trail guidelines are followed. Flowmotion, a professional trail builder, has volunteered his time for the first section of trail on this project. Funds raised will help pay for training of the NEABA volunteer trail crew by Flowmotion, as well as trail markers and materials for a kiosk.
