Oak Mountain State Park Skills Area Design

A Project of Birmingham Urban Mountain Pedalers
Oak Mountain State Park

$ 10734.00 raised of $ 10000.00

Despite the high popularity of mountain biking in the Birmingham metro, and a population of over a million, there is currently no publicly accessible mountain bike skills area. We are raising funds to hire Progressive Trail Design to design a skills area at Oak Mountain State Park. The new park will include often-requested features such as progressive drops and tabletop jumps.

A skills area at Oak Mountain will provide a controlled environment for new and experienced riders to hone their skills, particularly the many skills clinics that occur and NICA teams that practice at Oak Mountain. The money raised will pay for the professional design of a skills area by Progressive Trail Design. They will work with BUMP and the park to design a skills area to meet our needs. The detailed design and 3D renderings will also be used to apply for larger grants. Features to be included in the skills area are skinnies, rock obstacles, and, most often requested by our members, progressive drops and tabletop jumps, among others.
