Auburn Bike Park
Auburn, California
The Folsom Auburn Trail Riders Action Coalition plans to add features to a bike skills trail at the Auburn Bike Park to help riders practice and improve their riding skills. The skills loop, with line options for riders of different abilities, will add another fun component to the popular outdoor recreation space.
Phase 1 of the bike park was completed in May 2020 and currently includes a pump track, tot track, dual slalom lines, a flow trail, and additional trails. Phase 2 is in process and will include several jump lines and the initial development of the skills loop. FATRAC will coordinate with local teachers and builders who will help youth learn to construct, assemble and install wooden features for the skills loop. In return, those youth will be eligible to receive free bike skills coaching from certified instructors.
Since the Auburn Bike Park opened last year, it has been enjoyed by thousands of children, youth and adults from Auburn and its surrounding communities, attracting visitors from far and wide. The bike park has provided much-needed recreation and a healthy outlet for young and old during the pandemic.
The Auburn Area Recreation and Park District manages the bike park, a recreational facility that is free for public use. FATRAC has contributed both volunteers and fundraising support to the bike park during Phases 1 and 2 of the project. Phase 2 will expand the amenities at the bike park to help meet growing demand and give bike riders a mix of features to help improve their bike riding skills while having fun.
