Coldwater Mountain Trail Development
Planes, trains, and bikeways: they all lead to Anniston, Alabama. And in the coming years, they’ll lead to a 50+ mile trail system.
During a November 2010 visit to Northeastern Alabama, the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew was on hand to help build a foundation of knowledge for the new trail network at Coldwater Mountain. The project, in its initial stages, will be very exciting for both mountain bikers and the greater Anniston community.
Coldwater is a 4,000 acre property acquired through an Alabama state program called Forever Wild. With views for miles around, the mountain is a beautiful, relatively untouched gem.
Vistas aren’t Coldwater’s greatest asset; it’s the proximity to Anniston’s diverse population that will make the project phenomenal. Several neighborhoods adjacent to the mountain will have access to a multitude of trail experiences. Imagine a group of kids and adults alike who will have world-class trails out their backdoor.
It’s hard to contain our excitement knowing what the future holds for Anniston. The development of singletrack trails will make a positive impact for generations to come.
