Muscle Powered works to make Carson City healthier for all citizens and safer and more accessible for bicycling and walking through education and advocacy, the promotion of bicycle-and-pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, and developing and maintaining recreational trails throughout the city.
Muscle Powered is building a multi-use trail connecting two canyons on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevadas. When completed, in late 2014, this 7 mile trail will connect two local mountain bike areas as well as links to regional riding opportunities.
Other Muscle Powered trail projects:
Carson River Trail - 2500' extension of the Eagle Valley Trail.
Eagle Valley Basin Trail Project -While many trails and routes already exist in the area, this plan seeks to improve connectivity, insure design standards and increase the range of opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy non-motorized means of recreation and transportation. There are many trails in the urban interface that have been developed on private or public properties that will be evaluated in this project. The trail evaluations, review and inventory will also plan to focus on interconnection of the existing system allowing a practical and efficient route for residents, or access to a variety of recreation opportunities in the adjacent forests and mountains.
The plan will address the needs for trails to be interconnected and expanded and provide access to a variety of recreation opportunities in the adjacent US Forest Service, BLM or Nevada State Park public lands.
