The Greater Reading Trails System (GRTS), overseen by the Berks Area Mountain Biking Association, consists of more than 125 miles of trails in 5 major preserves, all of which be accessed via the Schuylkill River Greenway Rail Trail. The trails range in difficulty from beginner-friendly to some of the most technical, rock-strewn trails you’ll experience anywhere. There’s also an abundance of in-town amenities, including bike shops, craft beer bars, hotels, music venues, restaurants and sporting events.
Reading, PA, just 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia in Berks County. In addition to their proximity to Philadelphia, the GRTS trails are within a day’s drive of millions of people from the Midwest to the Atlantic coast.
The local IMBA chapter has done a phenomenal job expanding and maintaining the trails. The area is home to the annual Duryea Downhill Race—held the first weekend in May—and wa once the training ground of World Cup DH racer Neko Mullaly. The GRTS experience will not disappoint even the most technically skilled rider.
