Mount Airy Skills Park & Flow Trails

A Project of Cincinnati Off-Road Alliance
Mount Airy Forest, Cincinnati, Ohio

$ 2935.00 raised of $ 10000.00

Let's get more people outside and on bikes! The Mount Airy Skills Park & Flow Trails will remove common barriers to entry into recreation spaces such as skill, fitness, and travel. The proposed course is a controlled environment near an urban center, a location that will better serve a larger part of the greater Cincinnati population.

The Greater Cincinnati region now has over 100 miles of multi-use natural surface trail available for use by cyclists, but the amount of true beginner trail is under two miles. Many trails in the area require either significant technical ability or significant levels of fitness to access and utilize as intended. This situation has created a barrier to entry into the sport. CORA sees this proposed skills area as key to increasing access to bike infrastructure.

Trails and bike facilities also need to be located in communities within the urban core to serve more users and make a difference in the lives of youth and urban neighborhoods, rather than limit access by locating infrastructure in rural areas. The neighboring communities of Mt. Airy and Westwood would benefit immensely from the Mt. Airy Forest Skills Park which would provide a place for children to recreate safely outdoors. In addition, Mt. Airy is easily accessible to the entire Cincinnati region, located just seven miles from Downtown Cincinnati. A facility that is accessible to local children provides the opportunity to develop programming that can reach into the community to get kids outside and on bikes.

CORA is raising the final $200,000 of a half-million-dollar project that includes completing all sub-phases of the skills park, including the skills park itself, the skills park perimeter trail, the comfort station (restroom), and the connection to the other mountain bike trail.
