Celebrating communities that have made stellar progress in 2023

We’re reflecting on the year that’s winding down — where did it go? We both know time is precious, and that reflection can be time well spent, so let’s take a few moments to celebrate with a few of the many communities that have made progress this year on creating, protecting and enhancing trails close to home.

Lewisburg, WV, has watched its NICA team triple in size with new, approachable trails now open. Trail champions in La Crosse, WI, and over the river in Winona, MN, are seeing new trails energize a growing riding community. Silverton, CO, and Prescott, AZ both broke ground on mountain bike optimized trails that will add progressive and adaptive riding, after many years of impressive community advocacy. Chattanooga, TN officially expanded its diversity of riding options with two trail openings, while Cedar City, UT added more mileage to its 100-mile master plan, and Hot Springs, AR continues to demonstrate what great trails can do for a community.

Through it all, our team partnered with local leaders in Laguna Beach, CA, in Las Vegas, NV, in Navajo Nation, in Omaha, NE, and in more communities to host educational workshops. And, captured that knowledge in a new book on trail development guidelines. Great trails require great advocacy at many levels, so trail champions from across the country joined our team in Washington, D.C., while leaders in the Salt Lake Valley continue progress on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail following a federal law allowing better community connectivity.

From creating trusted partnerships together during the planning process, to collaborating on construction as trails come to life, and cutting some ribbons as new places to ride open up — our team at IMBA is honored to be welcomed into so many communities. Together, we’ve accomplished so much!

Whether we’re walking alongside trail champions to put that first flag in the ground, or adding the final signs to trails that will set a new trajectory for communities, it’s our pleasure to be on the same trail, together.

Thank you for joining forces with us and seeing through all that we can accomplish together! Your support makes this work possible. Let’s do even more in 2024.
