What would we do without trails?
2004 IMBA Summit Resources

Set your Advocacy Goals

Every two years, IMBA convenes a mountain bike summit that brings together some of the best cycling and trail advocates from around the U.S. and the world. We learn from each other, share success stories and strategize on how to overcome our challenges to make mountain biking better.

IMBA's board and staff have created a 2004 Summit agenda that we hope both informs and inspires you to continue to do great things to improve mountain bike access. Take advantage of all that you learn this weekend by setting goals for what you will do with this new information once you return home.

Use this worksheet to jot new ideas, tips, advice, and new approaches to old problems. Even better, use it as a template to help write a game plan for success. Start by asking yourself these questions:

  1. When I return to IMBA's Summit in 2006, what do I hope to have accomplished?

  2. What is the biggest threat to mountain biking in my area?

  3. What is the greatest opportunity for new or restored trail access?

  4. What are some tangible steps I can take to address the key threats or opportunities?

  5. What potential partners may be interested in helping me achieve these goals?

  6. How can we grow and strengthen the membership and leadership of our local/regional mountain bike group?

  7. What boards, councils, open space committees, or public offices need mountain biker representation?
