2005 IMBA/BLM Tangible Accomplishments

Vernal, UT

September 29 - October 2

  • Instructed 25 volunteers in sustainable trail design and construction
  • Led 30 volunteers in trailwork totaling 120 volunteer hours
  • Built 550 feet of trail
  • Designed 550 feet of trail
  • Assessed 18 miles of trail
  • Maintained 50 feet of trail
  • Visit featured in the Uintah Basin Standard Newpaper Oct. 4, 2005 on the front page and featured on the local radio

Moab, UT

October 6-10

  • The Crew worked with BLM staff and Trail Mix to assess existing signage and develop a plan for new trail signage for Porcupine Rim Trail (second most popular trail in Moab)
  • The Crew proposed a signage template that was discussed as an option for BLM trails in Moab

Grand Junction, CO

June 9-11

  • Multi-user trails training sponsored by COHVCO, IMBA, VOC and the BLM for 75 attendeesl
  • Taught a session on the elements of desert trail design and construction in the classroom and in the field

King Range, CA

April 4-15, September 22 - October 7

  • IMBA Trail Solutions staff designed the 30+ mile paradise ridge trail system linking existing and underutilized BLM campgrounds
  • IMBA Trail Solutions staff taught local volunteers sustainable trail construction techniques and worked with the California Conservation Corps to innitiate construction of the Trail System

St. George, UT

May 9-27

  • Provided continued design and consultation services in the planning of the Little Creek Mountain Recreation Area
