Hansen-Larson Memorial Park - Dirk's Draw Trail Construction

Project Number:
HLMP10_01

Let’s face it - expert riders are underserved in the sport of mountain biking.  At IMBA, we think seriously about planning for the folks who continue to reach the highest levels of the stratosphere.

Fortunately, Rapid City, South Dakota has a lot to offer.  To start, it’s blessed with an outdoor-minded community who embraces trails.  It also has the highest peaks east of the Rockies.  And right downtown one will find Hansen-Larson Memorial Park, a 300-acre oasis with over 10 miles of trails for hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers.

For the gravity-addicted crowd, trails like Dirk’s Draw and Red Dragons both offer something unique and advanced.  From rollers and berms to gnarly rocks and puckering drops, they are exactly the type of experience that the most skilled riders are looking for.

Capitalizing on a strong partnership with IMBA, Black Hills Mountain Biking, and the City of Rapid City, the success will continue as another $1.8 million it set to be used in the expansion of trails and supporting facilities.
