Cuyuna Trail Construction Professional Review

Project Number:
MDNR10_01

Your next mountain bike vacation should be to….Crosby, Minnesota….Where?

The Cuyuna Lakes Chamber of Commerce describes this area, two hours north of Minneapolis as ‘…home to astonishing mountain bike singletrack trails etched along the sides of 250 ft. slag piles overlooking 500-ft deep crystal clear mine pools.”  If ever there was a fascinating landscape for trails, this is it.

With over 25 miles of sweet, swoopy, purpose-built singletrack, the Cuyuna Lakes Trail System will make this part of Minnesota a must-see for mountain bikers in the Upper Midwest and beyond.  From a beginner’s loop to expert lines, the trails have something for even the most sophisticated trail connoisseur.

Opened in June 2011, this destination trail system is the result of a great collaboration between IMBA, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists, and a host of local communities.   Cuyuna is certain to be a model for what good design, a healthy budget, and important partnerships can produce.
