IMBA Clubs

Club Website About:

The West Alabama Mountain Biking Association (WAMBA), the local chapter of the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) and the Southern Off-Road Biking Association (SORBA), is blessed to have an excellent relationship with PARA of Tuscaloosa County and Lake Lurleen State Park. WAMBA has approximately forty (40 members) who worked along with other county residences to provide in 2013 almost 1500 hours of volunteer labor. This work, done on at least a monthly basis, was devoted exclusively to trail education/training, trail construction, and trail maintenance, primarily on the multi-use trail systems at Munny Sokol Park, Hurricane Creek Park and Lake Lurleen State Park. The trails in these parks total about 40 miles in length.

Since 2010 WAMBA has coordinated with the University of Alabama Honors College to provide opportunities for undergraduate students to participate in trail construction education and hands-on experience under the guidance of IMBA trained local trail building veterans. We believe there are further opportunities to partner with other such groups (University of Alabama New College, University of Alabama Outdoor Recreation, etc.) in regards to trail building training/education (instruction and hands-on experience).
