Club Website About:

Trails Have Our Respect is a volunteer organization dedicated to dirt trail advocacy in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. We have about 50 members with many more "at large". We currently maintain 10 trail systems ranging from 1/8 of a mile up to 10 miles.

We primarily have to manage keeping weeds back and grass cut as our summers are humid and the growth season is relentless. Three of our trails run through prairie fields and we've gone through many personal mowers and trimmers! Our soil is clay-based so rainy weather is the enemy. We continually monitor erosion and our affects on our short trail systems.

Aside from just trail work, we are all about the fun too. Events we champion are bike rodeos, BYOK (Bring You Own Kid) MTB Day, THORsday Night Ride, etc. And starting this year, we are really working to reach out to other user groups such as trail runners, scouts, etc.

In 2010 our biggest success was building a Gateway trail for inner-city kids. Not only was it a success for the kids but for THOR, we gained friends within the city parks office, showing them we are a valuable asset to their underfunded staff. In 2011, we are hosting a bike rodeo to help get local inner-city kids bikes working again as well as give away refurbished bikes. We are partnering with the local YMCA, community bike shop, Live Well Omaha and three bike shops to make it happen. It takes a village!
