"Occupy Pine and Strawberry" Arizona, September 14th, 15th and 16th, for the 2nd Annual Fire on the Rim Mountain Bike Race. Because of the tremendous success of our innagural event last summer, we've expanded the event to a weekend festival to include a campsite, beer garden, music and more!
The race course is a 15-mile loop through Pine and Strawberry and entrants may choose from three race lengths — 15 miles, 30 miles and 45 miles. The race will begin Saturday September 15th, starting at 7:30 a.m. for the 45 mile race, the 30-mile at 7:45 a.m., and the 15-miler starts at 8 a.m. Check the Fire on the Rim website for information including registration (http://fireontherim.com)
If you have never visited the area you are in for a treat! The community of Pine / Strawberry Arizona lies at the base of the Mogollon Rim, an escarpment defining the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau. The dramatic altitude change (7000’ on the Rim and 5000’ of the community), along with the surrounding national forests, create spectacular views and a venue ideal for outdoor recreation.
Fire on the Rim is co-sponsored by the Mountain Bike Association of Arizona (http://www.mbaa.net/) and the Pine Strawberry Fuels Reduction (PSFR) committee (http://psfuelreduction.org). PSFR was formed in 2004 to function as an oversight committee for fuel reduction efforts in the community. The intent was to become the voice of the community and to research and develop innovations that would move Pine and Strawberry to the forefront within the state, if not the nation, as a community that is willing to work together in making the area a safer place to live. In addition to the annual race, PSFR is working to expand the trail system and develop the area as a permanent mountain biking destination.
So come and "Occupy Pine and Strawberry" for the Fire on the Rim Mountain Bike Race!
