If you think Alabama isn't a mountain bike destination, it's time to think again. Tucked away in the small town of Anniston, the trail system at Coldwater Mountain has become one of the area's top riding spots. Combine beautiful scenery, well-built trails with easy access, great restaurants and microbreweries, and a dash of southern hospitality, and you have a Silver-level IMBA Ride Center.

Sitting on 4,000 acres and currently at about 25 miles, the trail system offers plenty of variety and potential for loop combinations. The progressive design allows expert riders to create air and challenge from the same terrain that newer riders are able to equally enjoy at their own level. The popular Bomb Dog trail, named after a local bomb-sniffing canine believed to have died on the mountain, rips through the woods, offering up tons of rollers, table-top jumps and a handful of black-diamond optional lines.

IMBA Trail Solutions and volunteers with the Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association worked nearly year-sound to evolve and expand this southern gem.
