As the midway point nears for IMBA’s Ride and Support Local membership drive, chapters across the United States are seeing substantial growth. In March, the first full month of the campaign, IMBA recorded year-over-year membership gains, improving on last year’s record-setting month and setting a new record for sales of individual and family memberships in a one-month timeframe.
The spring campaign includes great prize packages from IMBA’s corporate supporters, with a new gear package awarded each month. Join or renew before the end of April and you will be entered to win a $600 gift card to Jenson USA, a light kit from Cygolite, CST Tires, a one-year supply of CLIF Bars, or even a race entry to Epic Rides' Grand Junction Off-Road. For details see the contest rules.
Members who join or renew by April 30 also have the opportunity to participate in a May membership survey. The survey will collect input on IMBA's four-year strategic plan, which focuses on access, trails, community and resources.
Why does growing membership levels matter to IMBA and its chapters? “Building a strong membership base, and keeping those members informed and engaged, is one the most important pathways to improved trail access for mountain bikers,” says Jon Sundquist, president of the Western New York Mountain Bike Association. “Membership is so much more than a source of revenue—the true strength of a local organization is the people who join and keep their memberships current. That’s what allows us to plan new projects and ensure a bright future for riding local trails.”
Chapters across all 10 IMBA regions are taking advantage of the spring contest promotion to strengthen their membership levels. In 2015, IMBA chapters signed up more than 9,000 individual and families for memberships. The pace of growth continues to be strong, with record membership sales in 32 of the past 33 months, and the 2016 spring membership drive is still building momentum.
