James Clark has joined IMBA’s leadership team, serving as the Director of Trail Solutions. The Trail Solutions team of professional trail designers and builders is one of the world’s most respected providers of natural-surface trails, with experience on more than 350 trail projects in Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Italy, Mexico, Singapore, Switzerland and the United States.
“I’m very proud and incredibly excited to now be a part of the amazing Trail Solutions program," said Clark. "Mountain biking and being active in the outdoors are passions that have been with me my entire life. Working with the biking community and IMBA to provide great trails for others to enjoy is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
Before coming to IMBA, Clark served as a construction and property project manager with RW Zukin Corporation and ASC Construction Services, where he oversaw large-scale property development and construction efforts. He played a key role in providing direction to management team on corporate branding and marketing of the construction division, including the development of the ASC website and collateral. Clark, originally from Canada, has had a long career in trail development, dating back to 1992 when he worked with the New Brunswick Provincial government, the Trans Canada Trail foundation and in private consulting in Alberta.
In the volunteer realm, Clark is the current Vice President of the Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz, an IMBA chapter in California that works to promote and expand legitimate mountain bike access in Santa Cruz County. He also holds an advisory role with the Mountain Parks Foundation, a nonprofit that works in partnership with California State Parks to provide funding for multi-faceted visitor enrichment and education programs.
"James brings a rich mix of experiences, from overseeing his own trail design and construction business to management experience with a large construction firm," said IMBA executive director Mike Van Abel. "He's also a passionate mountain biker with a real enthusiasm for giving back to the sport—he's already making valuable contributions to IMBA's leadership team."
