IMBA welcomes Michelle Barker to her new role as the director for the Upper Midwest IMBA region. Barker has a master’s degree in education and was most recently a teacher, the president of the Linn Area Mountain Bike Association (LAMBA), IMBA’s chapter in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a member of IMBA’s Regional Leadership Advisory Council.
In 2014, her grant writing efforts helped secure $55,000 in Recreational Trails Program funding toward LAMBA’s Squaw Creek trails project, the first such grant given in Iowa for a mountain bike singletrack project.
“I’m excited to be part of a region with such passion, enthusiasm, and possibility for mountain bike opportunities; and to continue to show others the great riding in the Midwest,” said Barker.
Barker replaces Hansi Johnson, who served the region passionately for more than five years and has since taken a position with the Minnesota Land Trust as Director of Recreational Lands.
