(Boulder, Colo. October 19, 2017) The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) today launched its new, national grant campaign, Dig In. Now through December 31, Dig In will raise a mix of corporate and individual dollars to put directly toward 68 active, approved mountain bike projects in 31 states. People can donate directly to the project of their choice, make one donation to be divided among all 68 projects, or shop with one of IMBA’s corporate partners that is kicking back a portion of profits to Dig In.
Collectively, the projects of the 68 participating IMBA chapters represent 500 miles of new trails, the maintenance/improvement of at least 140 miles of trails, and 10 new bike parks/pumptracks. Ten projects are working toward creating new, bike-focused trail systems of 15 miles or more. Four projects are being built specifically to serve growing participation in NICA high school mountain bike racing leagues.
IMBA believes mountain biking changes lives and wants to change as many lives as possible. The Dig In Campaign represents just one element of the organization’s step toward new efforts to reach, engage and directly support the broader mountain biking community.
IMBA will launch a national marketing and outreach campaign November 1 to support its chapters and promote the projects to a broad audience. It has so far raised $40,000 from the bicycle industry and would like to double that number by the end of the campaign.
IMBA thanks REI, FOX Racing Shox, CLIF, G-Form and PeopleForBikes for seeding the Dig In Campaign. IMBA recognizes Headsweats, Showers Pass, Shredly and ZOIC for donating a portion of sales during the campaign to Dig In projects. IMBA also thanks MTB Project for hosting a fundraising match campaign to support Dig In.
Companies are invited to support the Dig In Campaign through direct contributions or supporting the projects by donating a portion of sales profits made during the campaign. Anyone interested in engaging with Dig In above and beyond a direct donation is invited to contact IMBA Brand Director Aimee Ross, firstname.lastname@example.org or 616.430.1399.
