This spring, from March through May, IMBA conducted a membership drive that attracted more than 9,000 new and renewed individual members. The “Be a Link in the Chain” campaign swelled the ranks of our supporters to unprecedented levels.

The drive to increase the strength and reach of IMBA and its nearly 200 chapters is key to advancing the sport of mountain biking. As local IMBA chapters grow their memberships they become more effective trail stewards and cycling advocates. To cite just one example, the Hoosier Mountain Bike Association in Indiana reported a 30-percent increase in membership during the spring campaign.

Hearty thanks go to all of the partners that helped create this success through social media and other marketing, including Specialized Bicycles for donating an Enduro Comp 650B mountain bike and Western Spirit Cycling Adventures for donating a guided mountain bike trip for two:

  • Garry “Goddi” Oddi, of Temecula, California, a member of Inland Valley Mountain Bike Association in Murrieta, California, won the new Specialized bike.
  • Todd Rosser, of Birmingham, Alabama, a member of Birmingham Urban Mountain Pedalers of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association, won a trip for two with Western Spirit Cycling Adventures.

Congratulations to both prize winners! And remember, even if you missed these rewards during the spring membership drive, all new and renewing IMBA members receive great member benefits.
