The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) and The North Face have formed a new alliance. The North Face joins IMBA as an "above and beyond" corporate member, including sponsorship of the Subaru-IMBA Trail Care Crews. Under the agreement, The North Face will become the official apparel supplier to the crews and IMBA staff, featuring the new Cryptic® mountain bike collection. The North Face Cryptic mountain bike line was inspired by many of The North Face's mountain athletes, who can be found varying their activity by season, whether skiing the steeps, putting up a first ascent or blazing single-track trails on knobby tires.
The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew is IMBA's grassroots educational program and an authority on sustainable trail building practices. Two teams of trail experts travel year-round throughout North America and beyond, leading trail work sessions and meeting with land managers, retailers and IMBA-affiliated chapters and clubs. The program has built and improved trails in all 50 States. The North Face joins the program's title sponsor, Subaru of America, as well as product suppliers Trek Bicycles and Yakima, in supporting Crew visits to 80 communities in 2011.
"We're excited to join IMBA and contribute to their efforts," said Brook Shinsky, Outdoor Participation & Community Development Manager for The North Face. "IMBA and its clubs blend their passion for riding with a commitment to trail stewardship and promoting environmental best practices."
"The North Face has already been a great partner," said Rich Cook, IMBA's development director. "We've worked together on the Planet Explore project, creating new resources for kids and families. Sponsorship of the Subaru-IMBA Trail Care Crew is a fantastic next step to strengthen our alliance and improve trails across the country."
The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit educational association whose mission is to create, enhance and preserve great trail experiences for mountain bikers worldwide. Since 1988, IMBA has been bringing out the best in mountain biking by encouraging low-impact riding, volunteer trailwork participation and cooperation among different trail user groups. IMBA's worldwide network includes 35,000 individual members, 750 bicycle clubs, more than 180 corporate partners and 600 retail shops.
