IMBA collaborated with Howell at the Moon Productions of Wenatchee, WA, to create this compelling portrayal of mountain biking. Since its unveiling during the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, Calif., in April 2011, Pedal-Driven has screened more than 300 times in seven countries and won multiple film festival awards, including being named a finalist at the Banff International Mountain Film Festival in Banff, Canada.
Pedal-Driven delves into the conflict between mountain bikers hungry to ride and the federal land managers charged with protecting the public lands that belong to us all. This beautifully shot documentary takes viewers on a thrilling and often contentious ride, covering issues of sustainability, public recreation and land stewardship from both sides of the divide, with the goal of uncovering a new path toward the future along the way.
The national broadcast coincides with the digital release of the documentary on the New Video/Docurama label. The national DVD launch is set for April 2013. Pedal-Driven is currently available at www.pedaldriven.org and for educational/institutional purchase through Collective Eye Films at www.collectiveeye.org.
