IMBA's Board of Directors recently elected Robert Winston as its new chairman. John Bliss, the previous chairman, stepped off the board after a successful two-year term that saw continued growth in IMBA's capacity and programs.
Winston has served on IMBA's board since 2008. A successful financial advisor for more than 24 years, he is a senior vice president with Morgan Stanley in La Jolla, California. Winston has volunteered thousands of hours to a variety of community causes, including 8 years as a reserve police officer in San Diego. A passionate mountain biker for more than 20 years, he still races in the 50+ Cat. 1 class.
"I am thrilled to chair IMBA's board," said Winston. "My goal is to ensure that IMBA's influence grows so we can fulfill our mission to create, enhance and preserve great trail experiences for mountain bikers worldwide. I'm especially interested in advancing IMBA's chapter program, which will strengthen our network and help us achieve more than ever before."
Elayna Caldwell, a marketing manager at FOX Racing Shox, will serve as vice chair. Caldwell joined the IMBA board in 2006. She is well versed in all aspects of mountain biking, from cross-country racing to downhill competitions, as well as freeriding and trail riding. Caldwell also serves on the board for the NorCal Cycling League. She lives in Santa Cruz, California.
"My passion is to ensure we all have trails to ride and to spread the message that all mountain bikers need IMBA," said Caldwell. "Mountain biking is a diverse sport with many riding styles and interests, but no matter what kind of bike you're on or where you ride, IMBA's goal is to serve riders and enhance the sport."
