What: Decelerators are the mirror of an accelerator, also formed from a partial roller, a decelerator is a short, steeper, ascending section of trail designed to decrease momentum.

Why: Used to decrease or “scrub” speed before a slower maneuver (such as a turn) or to generally decrease momentum without hard braking.

Considerations: Decelerators should not be so steep or so long that riders will have to pedal to reach the crest.
