The Victor Bike Park Revival project is a complete reconstruction of the community bike park to make it more functional, lower risk, and provide better learning progression for the growing population of adult, youth, and adaptive riders. Funds raised will help triple the size of the park, build progressive jump lines, and include a skills loop. Victor Bike Park will be a perfect complement to the local NICA program, existing youth bike programs, and the growing population of adaptive cyclists and mountain bike-curious members of the local community.

Due to the overall cost of our ideal project scope, we hope to complete the park improvements in three phases. Funds granted during this IMBA Dig In Grant would be allocated to the first phase of the project, specifically for us to be able to hire an additional professional bike park builder to help our trail crew and volunteers on-site during the project build.

Phase One: Work with the City of Victor, Idaho to update our current MOU and double the size of the bike park footprint. Purchase manufactured bike park features from Progressive Bike Ramps. Redesign and reconstruct dirt jump lines and build a family-oriented skills park. Complete: Summer 2022.

Phase Two: Redesign and reconstruct the existing pumptrack and build a kids strider pumptrack. Complete: Fall 2022 (dependent on additional funding).

Phase Three: Purchase and install park infrastructure and landscaping, including benches, waste management, shade structures, water fountain, AED, and bathroom facilities. Complete: Summer 2023 (dependent on additional funding).

There is a plethora of current and popular organized youth mountain bike programming in Teton Valley, Idaho. Mountain Bike the Tetons runs two community summer programs: MBT Summer Camps, which are 4-day full day mountain bike camps for kids ages 8-14 (12 kids per camp week) and MBT Sprockids, which is an 90 minute, 8-week summer program for youth ages 6-8 and 9-11 (60 kids total). These two programs use the current bike park at various stages of progression of the program and would be able to utilize it further with additional skills features and more beginner and rollable jump lines. Additionally, the robust local NICA mountain bike team, Teton Valley Composite, with over 60 members, has practiced at the bike park for the first four weeks of the season to teach skills such as body positioning and braking.

In addition to these organized groups, the Victor Bike Park Revival project will benefit both youth and adults curious about mountain biking and eager to learn in a controlled environment with progressive technical features to practice on. Mountain biking has exploded in popularity in our community and it’s evident that we could use additional resources for practice, fun, and learning.

Lastly, with support and guidance from another local non-profit, Teton Adaptive Sports, the new park will be designed to accommodate adaptive mountain bikers and those with disabilities. The current version was not designed with adaptive athletes in mind.

MBT, which runs a summer trail crew, holds volunteer trail work days with the NICA team each summer to help the youth develop a sense of stewardship and ownership for the current park and their local trail systems. The new park also creates further opportunity to host community volunteer work days for the construction and future maintenance of the park.

We wholeheartedly feel that the park improvements will improve the mental and physical health of our community by promoting families being able to gather and practice mountain biking skills outdoors together.
