Last Volunteer Work Day SUCCESS!

Our last volunteer work day of the season took place September 29th on the new GEM trail on Buffalo Pass. There were over 30 volunteers out to help get this trail on the ground and celebrate the life and work of Marc Sehler, who started the trail.

Thank you to Freshies for generously donating lunch, Honey Stinger for the snacks, Ski Haus Liquor for the refreshments and most of all to the community for volunteering your time! 
 
Token Tuesday at Mountain Tap

You did it! Due to the number of tokens we received in September, RCR has earned another spot as one of four local nonprofits to receive a dollar for each beer purchased during Token Tuesdays.

So join us every Tuesday night in October at Mountain Tap Brewery to drink for a good cause!

All proceeds to RCR will be donated to the Marc Sehler Fund at the Yampa Valley Community Foundation.
 
Trail Updates
 

- Spring Creek Alternate Trail: This bike-only, directional trail made great progress this summer. It is planned to be completed in 2019 and will be open at that time. This trail will greatly decrease the conflict on the primary Spring Creek Trail and make it a more enjoyable experience for all trail users. 

- Soda Mountain Trail: Reroutes for sustainability and environmental concerns continue on sections of this trail. It is open, but will not be marked or officially open until next year. If you have any questions about the continued development of this trail, please contact us. 

- The new GEM trail off of upper Flash of Gold is a 3.2 loop and will be completed in 2019.

These new trails are funded through a voter-approved local accommodations tax, with funding recommendations from the 2A Trails Steering Committee as well as through a generous grant from Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

Steamboat Springs Trail Alliance Meeting

Thank you to everyone who has attended the trails alliance meetings, it is inspiring to see so many different user groups having a respectful discussion together.

RCR will no longer be the direct hosts of these meetings, but rather it will be a collaboration between user group representatives. Please contact us if you are interested in having a voice in your local trail development.

Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day: Saturday, October 13th

Come join Routt County Riders and Partners for the annual Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day! This year we will be riding from Howelsen to Bear River Bike Park, where kids of all ages and abilities can learn new skills. We will finish back at Howelsen with a pizza party.

No riding experience necessary. Bikes will be provided to those who do not have one.

Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund
 

Genereux Investment Management has challenged the community to raise $2,500 for the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund. This is an all or nothing matching challenge that runs now through midnight October 31.

Funds from the challenge will push the TMEF fundraising campaign closer to its ultimate goal of $1 million to $1.5 million by 2026. This amount will provide permanent funding for maintaining and improving non-motorized trails for hikers, bikers, equestrians and other non-motorized users in Routt and Moffat counties.

If the $2,500 matching challenge is met, it will boost the TMEF balance to $406,251.  The full $2,500 must be raised by Oct. 31 in order for the funds to be matched.
