The Adventures of SORBARU! (IMBA-SORBA Subaru)
How do you triple your chapter membership in one week? Partner up with JCB Inc., the largest construction and agricultural equipment manufacturer in the world (and third in the United States). JCB hosted the 2014 Mud Run and Dig the Ride mountain bike ride on June 21. To prepare, SouthEast Georgia SORBA (SEGA SORBA) and JCB built a 5-mile trail in just two weeks. They signed up about 120 participants, with most of them opting to become SEGA members. As incentive, becoming a SEGA member meant a deeply discounted race entry fee. Brilliant!
JCB went all out in support of the race event with a live band, food, beer and multiple activities for kids. SEGA-SORBA, with only five weeks to put this event together, did an outstanding job, as well. Lead by Mark Prince, its covered all the details and the ride went off flawlessly. Put this event on your 2015 calendar!
JCB is based in the UK and is, by appointment, “Her Majesty the Queen’s” manufacturer of heavy equipment, which explains the first-class event it put on. JCB now wants to explore the possibility of providing a mountain bike trail system on its property that would be open to the public. Hopefully, this will be the start of a beautiful relationship among JCB Inc., SEGA-SORBA and IMBA.
The “SORBARU” was a big hit with the mountain bikers, mud runners and kids at the event. One of the kids participating in the mountain bike race wore the Subaru kit, earning him a pic with the beloved car.
