Designing a single track future for Forest Park's mountain bikers

With over 70 miles of recreational trails on 5,100 acres of public park land Forest Park has been drawing mountain bicyclists for decades. But unfortunately only a tiny fraction of the trails open to bikes are single track routes. The Northwest Trail Alliance is looking to change that and is working in partnership with Portland Parks & Recreation to develop a new singletrack trail near Fire Lane 5, a popular doubletrack route. Shane wilson and Jason Wells of IMBA's Trail Solutions program are assisting with this task by designing a sustainable route from top to bottom. Despite some heavy snowfall and slipper slopes they found a route that should make an excellent home for some two wheeled fun!
