All over the country, mountain bikers want to be able to ride their bikes from their homes to the trails. Until this weekend, this dream was virtually impossible for most riders in Salem, Oregon where the nearest legal singletrack was more than 30 minutes away by car.
Now, thanks to the visionaries of the Salem Area Trails Alliance and their partnership with Oregon State Parks, there are some new, ready to ride trails at Spring Valley State Park. Check out some fresh first tracks video of the new trail!
On Saturday, SATA brought together 45 dedicated volunteers to help build 1,200' of new singletrack at Spring Valley. These trails are the very first link in what will eventually be a 75-mile trail system in Salem called the Salem Greenway Trail. SATA has set a big goal for Salem, but if the commitment and hardwork demonstrated this weekend is any indication of the community’s support for trails, we can all expect big things in the future.
