What a blast we had this past weekend at our Trail Care Crew visit in Chico. There’s something to be said for a group of 52 people gathered in Sierra Nevada Brewing Company’s Big Room on a Saturday morning to learn about sustainble trail design and building – these people like bikes.

On Saturday, we had our class in the morning, and in the afternoon we worked on a handful of trail reroutes, armoring, and maintenance projects at Bidwell Park, mountain bike central if you live in Chico. The volunteers all walked away with a rock-hard understanding of trail sustainability and how to incorporate that into the existing trail system at Bidwell, which will serve the community well as the park moves forward with its management planning.

We had a boatload of sponsors and our visit would not have been so fun and productive without them. Thanks to Chico Velo, the City of Chico Park Division, Paul Component Engineering, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., and everyone who helped make the weekend a success.

What a great job developing

What a great job developing the Middle trail. The always widening and eroding trail that was can no longer be seen where the work is finished. The trail is being replaced with an erosion resistant interesting single track that supports nature while defining a smaller trail footprint. Thanks to all those involved who made it possible.
