Hans Erdman and his fellow patrollers at the Backcountry Trail Patrol in Isanti, Minnesota, don't let a little white stuff keep them from riding or patrolling.
Last weekend the group pulled out some mega-fat-tire bikes and patrolled the Cuyuna Lakes Whiteout. And last month, they patrolled the City of Lakes Loppet Nordic Ski Festival in Minneapolis. They've also attended the IronYeti Ride, Ice Races and Yawkey Trail Tour this winter.
"We have been working the Loppet for all of it's 10 years, initially on skis, some patrollers on snowshoes, and with the advent of the Pugsly, four years ago we added bike teams. The Loppet is the one time each year we get to work side-by-side with the National Ski Patrol," said Erdman, BTP's executive director.
Here are some photos from their work.
Patrollers, send me your photos and stories so I can post them here!
