We spent another weekend hanging out with the cool folks in Ohio! This time over in Dayton with Miami Valley Mountain Bike Association, as well as, IMBA Great Lakes Regional Director, Andy Williamson!
Over the weekend, we hung out with MVMBA members on the trail at both John Bryan State Park and the MoMBA loops, as well as Yellow Springs Brewery! We always enjoy group rides, sharing stories and enjoying food!
Aside of play, we did some work too! Our agenda called for both Land Manager Training and Trail Building School. Both were well attended and full of curious, excited volunteers.
Luckily, the weather treated us a bit better this weekend than last! With 25 volunteers, bundled but not freezing, we hit the trail out at Huffman Metro Park after TBS to break ground on a new black diamond loop! We are only making a dent in the new trail, but to see the excitement it instilled in everyone involved was amazing! This is a community of people who really want more trails, and they are willing to work through cold fingers and toes to get them!
A huge thank you to Jade, Dan and all the MVMBA members, along side the Metro parks staff, who helped make this weekend possible! We had a wonderful time in Dayton and thoroughly enjoyed riding your trails! Not only do the trails in Dayton remind us of our home trails, they are fun for all types of mountain bikers! That truly makes for a great trail system! Keep up the good work and good luck with finishing your new black diamond trail!
