IMBA's Trail Building Fund is used to seed projects that would otherwise not have come to fruition, and a great example of this success is the Truckee Pump Park. Pacific Region Director Anna Laxague, working with local riders and the Truckee Donner Recreation and Parks District, utilized a grant from the Trail Building Fund to have Trail Solutions create a conceptual plan of a cutting-edge pump park. The conceptual plan, which nicely illustrated the project's impact and value, was then used to obtain permission and funding.
Fast forward to today, and construction for the Truckee pump park is underway. A crew from Alpineglow Engineering has grubbed the site and volunteers are already directing the placement of nearly 1,000 cubic yards of high-quality fill that will form the bulk of the pump park. Trails Solutions' Randy Spangler is scheduled to arrive in a week to lead the construction effort, with the track scheduled to be operational, complete with irrigation, in early June.
