Singletrack Blitz Build in New River Gorge National Park
It is a good thing the sun is out late this time of year because the Trail Solutions team at the New River Gorge has been working from dawn until dusk. These long hours are in preparation for the several hundred Boy Scouts of America (BSA) who will arrive early in July, ready to build up to one mile of new trail each day.
Working closely with field staff from the National Park Service, Trail Solutions is training the BSA crew leaders, each of whom will be in charge of a cadre of eager Scouts weilding rock bars, Pulaskis, McLoeds, and other implements of singletrack creation. In a matter of weeks a new trail system will materialize in the woods, all of it lovingly hand built.
