Improving Riding Opportunities in Monterry, Mexico
With over four million inhabitants, the greater Monterrey metro area is Mexico's third-largest city, and while it has the congestion associated with all large cities is also has an active population and a huge greenspace, Parque Ecologia Chipinque. With the help of a growing contingent of local riders, Trail Solutions is working to improve both the environmental and social sustainability of the trails at Chipinque Park by redesigning the system, including the provision of bike-specific singletrack. With the opportunity for long, twisting descents so close to the city there is the distinct opportunity to bring high-quality trails to a significant number of people.
While close-to-home trails are the daily bread of mountain biking, riders will always want weekend or week-long destinations for that backcountry experience. To that end, Trail Solutions also continues to assist Rancho Oso Negro with the design and contruction of a flow-based trail system. Located an hour from Monterrey, Rancho Oso Negro is full of wildlife, beautiful vistas, and epic singletrack, all supported by comfortable accomodations and delicious homemade meals.
