The Metro Parks Off-Road Mountain Bike Area (MoMBA) is a network of bike-optimized singletrack that is easily accessible to the residents of Dayton, Ohio. Five Rivers MetroParks, the land manager, has worked with local mountain bikers and IMBA to design, build, and maintain this fun trail system.
Wanting to better meet the needs of mountain bikers, MetroParks engaged IMBA's Midwest Regional Director, Andy Williamson, to discuss the development of a bike park at a new park entrance. To ensure that the concept was of the best quality, Andy utilized IMBA's Trail Building Fund to secure Trail Solutions' assistance.
Trail Specialist Tammy Donahugh traveled to Dayton and spent the week with Andy, MetroParks staff, and other stakeholders to initiate the design. The bike park will both challenge experienced riders and give beginner riders the opportunity to improve their skills before hitting the trail.
MetroParks will be seeking construction funds from the State of Ohio and other sources. The Miami Valley Mountain Bike Association, an IMBA chapter, will figure prominently in the support of the new bike park and will help engage the community to support this exciting new facility.
