Mark Eller, IMBA's director of communications, recently wrote an informative article on the development of bike parks in Colorado's Front Range. As more bike parks get built — both in Colorado and across the nation — the value of such facilities is becoming increasingly obvious to riders, parks and recreation departments, and especially parents.
Even with shrinking municipal budgets, bike parks are cost-effective investments as they are typically less expensive to build and maintain than traditional recreation facilities, such as baseball and soccer fields.
Of course, as the director of IMBA's Trail Solutions program I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that our team of professional trail builders has helped bring some of the nation's leading bike park projects online. Here's hoping we get to build one in your community soon!
