Chapter Magic Numbers: May Update

Last month, IMBA chapters received info about "REDS" and "SHREDS" — two categories of enhanced dues sharing implemented to encourage chapter growth. (Read more about the chapter membership program and revenue split in this FAQ document.)

The basics are as follows: chapters that hit the Regular Enhanced Dues Share, or "REDS," target for membership growth see a 50-percent dues split on incremental membership dues, an increase from the the baseline 40-percent split during each financial quarter. Chapters that do even better with membership growth can qualify for the second category, Super High Reach Enhanced Dues Share, or "SHREDS," and earn a 50-percent revenue split of all membership dues received in a quarter.

Attached to this blog is the updated Magic Number with April's results. Congratulations to the following preliminary REDS/SHREDS qualifiers with two full months to go in Q2:

Preliminary REDS Qualifiers
  • Mankato Area Mountain Bikers (MAMB)
  • Santa Fe Fat Tire Society (SFFTS)
  • Trails Have Our Respect (THOR)
Preliminary SHREDS Qualifiers
  • Friends of Arkansas Singletrack (FAST)
  • New River Bicycle Union (NRBU)
  • Pedal United (PU)
If they continue on their current trajectories, the REDS preliminary qualifiers will qualify for SHREDS before Q2 is complete, joining the three SHREDS qualifiers in a 50-50 revenue split with IMBA for the quarter. In other words, these fast-growing chapters will see bigger checks when IMBA shares back membership revenue at the end of Q2.
