Trail Solutions staff recently submitted a conceptual community bike park plan to the City of Cleveland and Cleveland Metroparks as a continuation of the community bike park planning process funded through IMBA's Bike Park Initiative. Earlier this year the City of Cleveland was awarded a Bike Park Initiative grant for the development of a community bike park located in Kerruish Park. The Bike Park Initiative is an IMBA-led project designed to foster the development of world-class bike park facilities across the United States. Developed in partnership with the SRAM Cycling Fund and People for Bikes, the Bike Park Initiative identifies promising U.S. municipalities and provides them with strategic and technical assistance to create outstanding mountain bike facilities.
Trail Specialist Jason Wells visited the site this spring and gathered information that was rendered into a conceptual plan and accompanying report. The City of Cleveland, Cleveland Metroparks and the Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association will now gather valuable public input and work to refine the concept before the project moves into a more detailed design phase. Cleveland's Kerruish Park holds awesome potential for the development of an active recreational opportunity for area residents.
