Trail Solutions Project Experience

Trail Assessment, Planning & Design

  • 8 miles of trail design for the Bonneville Shoreline Trail in Salt Lake County, Draper, Bluffdale, and Alpine, UT in cooperation with the National Park Service Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance program
  • Sustainable trail corridor design for Colorado State Parks at Cheyenne Mountain State Park (10 miles) and at Staunton State Park (30 miles)
  • 20 miles of trail assessment planning at Kep-Mo/Bradley Trails in Mat-Su Borough, Palmer Alaska for National Park Service-Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance program
  • 40+ miles of trail planning and design of Black Canyon Trail for BLM-Phoenix, AZ
  • Trail planning for a proposed 200-mile shared use trail system on 20,000-acre Little Creek Mountain outside St. George, UT
  • 12 miles of trail design for Curt Gowdy State Park in Wyoming

Trail Design/Construction

  • 25 miles of mechanized-built cross country, downhill, and freeride trail, jump and challenge park construction for Tamarack Resort in McCall, ID
  • Overseeing the construction of a 35-mile trail system in the King Range National Conservation Area in northern California

Trails Education

  • Led 20 trail building and mountain bike management seminars for MTB Australia, Australia National Park Service, Regional land management authorities, city park staff, and private ski area personnel
  • Presented 5 mountain bike trail and management seminars for Countryside Activities & Access Network, Northern Ireland, assessed 12 parks for mountain bike trail suitability
  • Co-instructor of 5 trailbuilding seminars for Forest Enterprises, UK in Wales, Scotland, and England

Past Trails Experience

Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew - 1999-2002

Instructor and designer for weekly trailbuilding seminars in 35 states and 10 countries.

Notable accomplishments include:

  • Mac Ridge trail design in Fruita, CO (with BLM, COPMOBA)
  • Consultant for 2004 Olympic Mountain Bike course, Athens, Greece

Keystone Mountain Resort - 1994-1998

Manager for construction and maintenance of Keystone's summer bike trails as well as Dirt Camp lead instructor and guide. Designed and constructed 12 miles of new trail.

Notable Accomplishments

  • 2-time winner, 10-time competitor Montezuma's Revenge (a 24hr Mountain Bike Odyssey)
  • Summited 25 and skied over 20 14,000-ft peaks in Colorado
  • Cycled over 5,000 miles in Southeast Asia and the Mediterranean
