Project Type: Design
Length: 10 miles in 2004
Use: mountain bike
Dimensions: 12" to 36"

Seeking to develop more summer trail opportunity without resorting to using their world-class nordic trail system, as well as providing training opportunity for local athletes and recreational opportunity for regional residents, the Nordic Heritage Center hired Trail Solutions to design a stacked loop trail system with trails suitable for those brand new to the sport to those not afraid of jumping off vertical rock faces.

With a high volume of existing trail, Trail Solutions desired to minimize the number of Nordic trail intersections that could make navigation confusing. Wanting to give the impression of wilderness, but with a large amount of new trail being placed in a relatively small area, Trail Solutions suggested a unidirectional trail system to minimize trail passes and allow for some higher speeds while retaining some challenging corners.
