Bartram Trail, Georgia

Project Type: construction
Length: 8 miles in 2003
Use: mountain bike, hike
Dimensions: 24" to 36"

Trail Solutions worked with a multi-contractor team led by Long Cane Trails from South Carolina and also including Trail Dynamics from North Carolina to build 8 miles of the long distance, Bartram Trail on the US Army Corps of Engineers J. Strom Thurmond Reservoir property. While the project was taxing because of the oppressive August weather, difficult drainage issues, dense corridor, and a stipulation that all rocks and roots less than 2 inches below the trail tread required removal, the trail has become the premier novice and beginner mountain biking trail in the region. Another 8 miles of trail that is in the approval process would link this trail with a county park and provide a 30-mile trail system.
