Morgan Hill, CA: IMBA's Launches 2006 Efforts in California

Specialized opened their amphitheatre doors to celebrate with the public and officially announce Tom Ward's new role with IMBA. More than 100 people showed up including California State Assemblyman Alberto Torrico, District 20, who spoke to the crowd about the benefits of open space and the need to lobby their local state representative to make things happen on a local level.

Seventy-five volunteers showed up for a weekend of trailwork in Henry Coe State Park, the second largest State Park in California with 90,000 acres and growing. Specialized provided hearty lunches for the volunteers who contributed more than 600 hours of trailwork over the weekend.

These women set a great example of how to build natural looking and effective rolling grade dips.

No work weekend is complete without a celebratory ride. At the peak of the trail riders enjoyed the view of the rolling oak woodland environment that Henry Coe State Park is known for. A coyote even showed its face.

Thanks to generous underwriting from Specialized Bicycle Company, IMBA is now stepping up efforts in the golden state by hiring California Policy Advisor, Tom Ward an avid mountain biker and former California State Parks Recreation Manager. Specialized and the Responsible Organized Mountain Pedalers (ROMP) hosted a weekend of events to welcome Tom and kick-off the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew's 10th year on the road. Seasoned Trail Care Crews Nat, Rachael, Chris and Jill teamed to celebrate and share their trailbuilding expertise with local volunteers and State Park staff.
