Prescott, AZ: Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew help build Prescott's future Circle Trail

Prescott is Arizonašs best kept secret for mountain biking and these locals are making it even better.

Despite the tiring root and rock work, the group constructed 700-feet of new trail and contributed 100 volunteer hours to the project.

The most popular rides in Prescott are best described in four words: fast, flowy, swoopy and fun.

The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew teamed with the Prescott Cycling Club and the Forest Service for a weekend of fun riding and important trailwork. Prescott's vision for the future includes a new 45-mile loop trail that will circumnavigate the city. It will be called the Circle Trail and is already partially built. The Forest Service is taking the lead in building their portion of the trail utilizing volunteer hikers, bikers and equestrians. The Circle Trail will have numerous accessible trailheads which encourages use of the trail in segments or as a large loop.

To enhance the potential success of the trail, the Prescott Cycling Club invited IMBA to town to conduct an IMBA Trailbuilding school. Twenty-five local trail users and volunteers attended classroom and field sessions that focused on all aspects of trailbuilding from the design phase to construction and signage. An important part of the school was the discussion on minimizing user conflict and creating a successful multiple use trail. The Circle Trail will be open to all non-motorized users and will be bi-directional.
