Kim gives an enthusiastic thumbs up when the crew found a slickrock section to lay the trail on. This spot also provides a 15 mile view to the snow capped mountains - a perfect spot for a picnic along the ride.

After two full days of trail layout, the team was rewarded by a great loop ride on the Sovereign Trail. Here, Aaryn shows her success in riding through the sand.

Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew, Nat and Rachael Lopes, and IMBA staff, Aaryn Kay and Scott Linnenburger, worked with the Moab Trails Alliance in the effort to provide new singletrack trail opportunities for mountain bikers in Moab this May. Two new trails were designed in the Klondike Bluffs area on Bureau of Land Management property. Each trail is approximately 1.5 miles long, and they will eventually link together. This new loop option located off the main Klondike Bluff Trail was designed specifically for mountain bikers and will not permit OHV use.

New singletrack trail is a new concept for Moab. The city is hoping to keep the mountain biking experience alive for years to come. This push for new singletrack mountain bike trails was kicked off when Mark Schmidt and Lora Woolner, Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew, visited Moab in 2003 to discuss with the Chamber of Commerce the economic benefits of keeping Moab a destination spot for mountain bikers.

Many thanks to Kim Schappert for all her volunteer work and great hospitality in the great Up The Creek Campground.
