Nat and Rachael Lopes

The latest addition to the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew program is the duo of Nat and Rachael Lopes. Nat and Rachael will travel the Western U.S. and Canada leading Trailbuilding Schools, working with local volunteers and land managers. For the past 5 years, Rachael worked as an archaeologist with a breadth of experience that ranges from GIS mapping to soil sampling to burial exhumation. Nat worked as an independent marketing, design and photography consultant; he is also certified as a California Department of Forestry firefighter, a California State Park Docent, and in Wilderness First Aid. Rachael and Nat both hale from California, but have had the opportunity to explore some of the best riding throughout North America.

Jill Van Winkle and Chris Bernhardt

Jill and Chris

Chris Bernhardt and Jill Van Winkle most recently lived in Hood River, Oregon. They were both very active with their local trails community, from Wilderness advocacy meetings to working on a new trail master plan to swinging a tool at workdays. They are also avid riders. Chris has his masters in urban and regional planning with experience in private and municipal planning. Jill has a background in plant biology and a passion for teaching. She has worked for the Forest Service, the Native Plant Society of Oregon, has 4 patents (in plant genetics), and has most recently worked in water quality analysis.
