Former Olympian invites the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew for some great riding and trailwork.
Nat and Rachael Lopes, Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew, visited Glenwood Springs, Colorado to work with locals on an existing trail and assess the feasibility of future trail locations. Glenwood Springs is lucky to have former road bicycling Olympian, Jeanne Golay, on a mission to improve road and mountain bicycling opportunities in their city.
To involve and educate the local trails community, Nat and Rachael led an IMBA Trailbuilding school on Saturday, which included a morning classroom session and afternoon trailwork session on the nearby Jeanne Golay Trail. After learning about how to construct and maintain sustainable trails, 30 volunteers constructed a reroute to bypass a steep fall line section of the existing trail. The steep Jeanne Golay Trail has needed reroutes on the most eroded sections of the trail to make them more sustainable and low maintenance.
Special thanks to Jeanne for planning such a successful and fun weekend. Her hard work and dedication will improve recreational opportunities for the Glenwood Springs' community.
