If you can avoid the heat and the many species of prickly cacti, riding in Carlsadıs La Cueva trail system is a ton of fun. Thanks to Jim Goodbar (in picture) at the BLM and the Bike Doc for planning a great visit.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and local bike shop, Bike Doc, teamed up with Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew leaders, Nat and Rachael Lopes for a weekend of talking trails.

The Crew taught an IMBA Trailbuilding School to local trail users as well as BLM and Forest Service staff. The group rerouted a poor quality fall line section of trail with a 1.6-mile long sustainably designed contour route in the La Cueva hills. The new route features swoops and swales across the hillsides and features alternate lines designed to attract the more advanced users.

Thanks to the Bike Doc and the BLM for hosting a great weekend and creating a buzz about trails in the local community, including publicizing the Trailbuilding School on local radio station KCCC 930AM.
