Trail Care Crew Visits Lynchburg, Virginia

The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew spent a few days in Lynchburg, Virginia working with new IMBA State Rep Bob Dunn and the Central Virginia Mountain Bike Association. CVMA has built and maintains trails all around Lynchburg, and is busy building new mountain biking trails on 160 acres of city land. The Crew lead a successful Trailbuilding School and trail work session. More than 30 volunteers pitched in to build more than 300 feet of new trail and a rolling crown switchback in under six hours! Monday the Trail Care Crew met with Lynchburg-area land managers and Appalachian Trail folks and discussed the positive future of mountain biking in Lynchburg Overall, a very successful visit!

The Central Virginia Mountain Bike Association is working on building a five-mile loop in Peaksview park that will connect with the James River Heritage Trail, a paved greenway, and numerous other singletrack options off the greenway.

More than 30 volunteers helped build more than 300 feet of trail and a rolling crown switchback in under six hours.

Heading out on the new trail after a hard morning's work.

Bob Dunn, IMBA's VA State Rep is the man for the job. He printed up flyers for the workday, got an article in the paper, and a TV news crew on sight. They ran the spot every news session for 48 hours. A great guy who is soon to be retired and about to become a full time trail advocate. He might go up to Harrisonburg next week so we can introduce him to the Hugh Jass crew.
